CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
Staff Sgt. Gerrick Hoffman is a crew chief instructor with the 373rd Training Squadron, Detachment 5 and has been stationed at Charleston AFB for 11 months.
As a crew chief instructor, he instructs crew chiefs from other airframes on how to properly maintain a C-17. He also instructs aero repair courses which teach crew chiefs how to rig and adjust doors and flight controls on the C-17.
In addition to his primary duties, he is also the unit education and training monitor and oversees the training and training records for 43 assigned Airmen and makes sure tasks are completed on time.
He contributes to Team Charleston's mission by continually training maintainers who are motivated and willing to get the job done.
This "Warrior of the Week" hails from Parma, Ohio, and enlisted in the Air Force more than 10 years ago. He joined the Air Force because he wanted to serve his country and was interested in airplanes.
"I like my job because I don't get lost in the crowd," said Sergeant Hoffman. "Everyone knows everyone in this unit and is always there to help each other out."
"Sergeant Hoffman is truly an outstanding and professional NCO," said Master Sgt. Joseph Thomas, 373 TRS, Det. 5 flight chief. "He's extremely motivated and has proven an invaluable asset to our unit in training U.S. Air Force and international maintenance technicians."
