Retirement: The 315th Airlift Wing will host a retirement ceremony for Chaplain (Col.) John Caparisos Thursday at 10 a.m. in the base chapel. For more information, contact Master Sgt. Chris Currie at 963-5260.

101 Critical Days of Summer kick-off briefing: The 437th Airlift Wing will hold a safety briefing Monday at 7:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the Fitness and Sports Center's Hurricane Court. Attendance is mandatory for all Airmen 27 years old and under. All other Airmen are invited to attend. For more information, contact Stuart Wyatt at 963-5605.

Gate closure: The Dorchester Gate will be closed Monday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. due to the Visitor's Center Dedication Ceremony. Valid identification card holders can access the base through the Commissary Gate during the closure. Interfaith Holocaust Remembrance Service: The Interfaith Holocaust Remembrance Service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the base chapel. Mr. Pincus Kolender, a Holocaust survivor, will be the guest speaker. For more information, contact the base chapel at 963-2536.


National Police Week calendar of events: National Police Week was founded to pay tribute to the law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and to show our appreciation for all those who currently serve in the war against crime.

National Police Week Golf Tournament: The 437th Security Forces Squadron is hosting a golf tournament today at 8:30 a.m. at the Wrenwoods Golf course. Prizes will be awarded for best shot, longest drive, closest to the pin and hole-in-one. For more information, contact Senior Master Sgt. Clinton Harris at 963-3634.

Bicycle Rodeo: The 437 SFS is hosting a bicycle rodeo Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the commissary parking lot. The bicycle rodeo teaches children the proper techniques for cycling safely and the correct use and wear of safety equipment. The rodeo will also have a fingerprinting booth, military working dog demonstration and a Phoenix Raven demonstration. For more information, contact Staff Sgt. Kamisha Sumpter at 963-8079.

2007 technical sergeant/master sergeant promotion results: The statistics for the 2007 E6/E7 promotion results will be released early June. The official results will be released June 14. America's Kids Run: The base youth programs will be one of the dozens of Department of Defense youth centers across the world that are taking part in the America's Kids Run Saturday. The run will be held on the track behind the base Fitness and Sports Center at 8 a.m. The five and six year olds run a half mile, seven and eight year olds run one mile, and nine to thirteen year olds run two miles. Happy relationship class for couples: The Family Advocacy Program is offering a free couples communication class for base Airmen and their partners starting June 5. 2007 senior NCO induction ceremony: The 2007 Senior NCO Induction Ceremony Committee is seeking volunteers who can sing, play a musical instrument, act or can memorize a short script presentation. Job services: The Airman and Family Readiness Flight will hold a job counseling session Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon. Troops to teachers: The Airman and Family Readiness Flight will hold a cooperative project between U.S. and S.C. Department of Education Monday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This program is designed to assist active and former military in obtaining teacher certification and employment as teachers in S.C.
