CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
Members of Charleston AFB received the following Non-Judicial Punishments under Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice during May. The maximum punishment under Article 15 depends on the rank of the member being offered the Article 15 and the rank of the officer imposing punishment. If the commander finds a military member committed the charged offense, the commander then determines the member's punishment based on the severity of the offense, the circumstances surrounding the offense, previous misconduct and any matters in mitigation or extenuation presented by the member.
A Security Forces Detachment 3, Navy Consolidated Brig Charleston staff sergeant received an Article 15 for failing to obey a lawful order. The punishment consisted of a reduction to senior airman, forfeiture of $1,031 pay (suspended) and 15 days extra duty (suspended).
A 14th Airlift Squadron senior airman received an Article 15 for failing to go to his appointed place of duty. The punishment consisted of reduction to airman 1st class and a reprimand.
A 437th Logistics Readiness Squadron senior airman received an Article 15 for accessing pornography on a government computer. The punishment consisted of reduction to the grade of airman 1st class (suspended), forfeiture of $450 pay per month for two months, 45 days extra duty and a reprimand.
A 437th Maintenance Squadron staff sergeant received an Article 15 for drinking on duty. The punishment consisted of reduction to senior airman (suspended), forfeiture of $250 pay per month for two months (suspended), 30 days extra duty and a reprimand.
Two 437th Civil Engineer Squadron airmen 1st class received Articles 15 for accessing unauthorized websites on a government computer. Both punishments consisted of reduction to the grade of airman, forfeiture of $729 pay per month for two months (suspended), 30 days extra duty (suspended) and a reprimand.
