Warrior of the Week: Senior Airman Rob Walker

15th Airlift Squadron

Senior Airman Rob Walker is a C-17 loadmaster with the 15th Airlift Squadron and has been stationed at Charleston AFB for the past three years.

As a loadmaster, he is responsible for overseeing the safe handling of cargo and passengers. He also ensures that all cargo makes it safely to its destination.

Airman Walker contributes to Team Charleston's mission by making sure cargo is properly stowed and prepared for safe delivery.

"Did you ever have one of those moments when you look back and think, 'How did I get here,'" said Airman Walker. "I was working in a garage changing tires and knew I was not going anywhere. I wanted to do something different with my life and after 9/11 I felt like I wanted to do my part for the country ... I guess all signs pointed to the Air Force."

His future career goals include being upgraded to an instructor and becoming air drop qualified. He also wants to join the special operations loadmaster force and eventually teach at the enlisted aircrew undergraduate course in San Antonio.

"Airman Walker is a very trusted loadmaster," said Tech. Sgt. Donny Leydig, 15 AS training flight manager. "You can give him any task or job and expect it to be done in a timely and professional manner."
