Base welcomes new MXG commander during change of command

The 437th Maintenance Group welcomed a new commander during a change of command ceremony June 29 at Nose Dock 2.

Col. Tammy Livingood, recent graduate of the Air Force War College at Maxwell AFB, Ala., with a master's degree in strategic studies, replaced Col. Grace Blevins-Holman. Colonel Blevins-Holman will take over the position of deputy director of logistics at Headquarters, Air Mobility Command, Scott AFB, Ill.

Colonel Livingood is from Sunnyvale, Calif. She graduated from the Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree. She was then commissioned into the Air Force in 1984.

As part of AMC's logistics directorate, she was the division chief of aircraft maintenance policy and was responsible for command policy on 21 diverse weapons systems, 1,028 aircraft and associated support equipment at 58 worldwide locations in support of AMC's global mission.

How do you feel about coming to Charleston?
I am extremely excited to be here. It's the premier C-17 base, who wouldn't want to come here!

What are your initial plans as the new commander?
Initially, I'll get a good review of the group and then we'll start preparing for the logistics standardization and evaluation program coming up in September.

What is the goal and mission of your agency?
Our mission is to provide safe and reliable aircraft.

What are your expectations of your team?
I expect my maintenance team to be safe, properly trained and come to work with a good and professional attitude.

What was your most memorable assignment and why?
Yokota AB, Japan, has been my most memorable assignment so far. I was able to be an "American Ambassador," I worked with and met some great people and was able to experience another culture and country up close and personal.
