CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
The 437th Logistics Readiness Squadron welcomed a new commander during a change of command ceremony July 9 at the Charleston Club.
Maj. James Petrick, former commander of the 33rd Maintenance Operations Squadron, at Eglin AFB, Fla., replaced Lt. Col. Jeanne Hardrath. Colonel Hardrath will be stationed at the Pentagon where she will be working the Global Logistics Support Center.
Major Petrick was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from South Dakota State University. He was commissioned into the Air Force in 1993.
How do you feel about coming to Charleston?
I welcome the opportunity to command the 437 LRS and be a part of Team Charleston.
What are your initial plans as the new commander?
My initial plan is to get involved, get to know the people and continue the tradition of excellence.
What is the goal and mission of your agency?
Our goal is to provide the best logistics support to our customers, aircrews, maintenance and ultimately our deploying and deployed warfighters.
What are your expectations of your team?
My expectation is that everyone knows their job and performs all assigned duties to the best of their ability. I'm a firm believer in excellence in all we do.
What was your most memorable assignment and why?
I have not had a bad assignment, but I would have to say my most memorable one was Nellis AFB, Nev. I was able to work in 3 separate logistics operations, airlift, vehicle operations and aircraft maintenance.
What is one interesting fact about yourself?
I started my AF career as an enlisted communications specialist.

Gladiator - I was inspired by his ability to beat adversity and rise to the top.

Why did you join the Air Force?
I was 19 with little direction and my father convinced me to enlist. The rest is history.
How would you describe your leadership style?
I would describe it as aggressive, detailed and positive.
Who is your role model and why?
My grandfather. He taught me that there are qualities which are timeless: honesty, loyalty and hard work.
