Charleston AFB hosts vendor trade fair

By Amanda Butler 437th Contracting Squadron

The 437th Contracting Squadron will host the eighth annual vendor trade fair Tuesday at the Charleston Club from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The vendor trade fair is an opportunity for Airmen and Department of Defense employees affiliated with the Government Purchase Card program to meet a wide variety of service and supply vendors.

The GPC program was developed for purchases under the micro-purchase threshold of $2,500, but has now expanded to allow authorized pre-priced requirements up to $25,000. The GPC card gives greater flexibility to the end user in obtaining the required products and services.

A diverse group of vendors will show their wares at the fair including industrial, mechanical and electronic equipment, office supplies and warehouse solutions. These businesses are eager to build relationships with and help government cardholders, approving officials and resource advisors get the best products for the best price.
"The trade fair is an excellent opportunity to gain important information on sources and products," said Donna Barber, 437th Contracting Squadron small business specialist and director of business operations. "It's imperative that we stay abreast of the market and find competitive sources. Competition ensures we receive the best value in a climate where our dollars are so limited and it's also an opportunity to receive first-rate training on the changes taking place within the GPC program."

The 437 CONS will be providing training to all government cardholders on the GPC program including Access Online training which will be held every half hour beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The training will focus on the recent changes in the GPC program and the Access Online training will be provided to those who need assistance in understanding the new system.

The trade fair is a great opportunity to maximize your time while gaining important and valuable information. This is a drop-in event and cardholders can see it all in an hour. Mark your calendars to attend this informative event.
