CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
Senior Airman Chrystal Pascalli is the security forces vehicle control noncommissioned officer and has been stationed at Charleston AFB for almost four years.
As a security forces vehicle control NCO, she is responsible for conducting monthly safety checks on 16 vehicles that must meet security forces standards. Safety checks include: checking the physical condition of each vehicle, all fluid levels, tire pressure and cleanliness of each vehicle. She coordinates with the designated general services administration off-base contractor for all major vehicle maintenance and upkeep.
"I really do enjoy my job; my job really matters and it shows what I am really capable of doing," said Airman Pascalli. "I am also the alternate supply custodian, so I help prepare mobility bags in advance for each Airman getting ready for a deployment. Providing this service to our Airmen allows them to spend more time with their families. This procedure is also cost-effective and saves many manhours."
This "warrior of the week" hails from West Palm Beach, Fla., and has been in the Air Force since December 2003.
"I joined the Air Force so I could grow up," said Airman Pascalli. "I also wanted to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, and do it in a positive manner. It took me four years to figure it out and I am proud to have served my country during that time."
I was deployed to Iraq last year and was assigned to a detainee facility ... that was a real-life experience."
She is currently attending Parks University and plans to get a degree in criminal justice. She plans to separate from the Air Force at the end of her enlistment to pursue a career in law.
"Airman Pascalli's drive and motivation are superior to that of any young senior Airman I have seen in my career," said Staff Sgt. Edward Meredith, 437 SFS NCO in charge of installation electronics and security systems. "She embodies the Air Force core value, 'excellence in all we do.'"
