CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
The 2007 Combined Federal Campaign has come to a close, and Team Charleston has once again demonstrated its charitable spirit by contributing $239,313.
To put this achievement in perspective, the 2007 total far exceeds the base's CFC efforts since 2001. Team Charleston has certainly done their part in helping the Coastal Carolina Combined Federal Campaign, the local coordinating committee, reach its goal of $1.4 million.
The 2007 monetary contribution was impressive, but the charity didn't stop there. On Oct. 19, Team Charleston executed Operation WISH LIST and, in the process, delivered donated food, clothes, school supplies, personal hygiene items and cleaning products to three local shelters and a downtown Charleston food pantry.
Additionally, on Oct. 26 Charleston AFB hosted a popular base tour for more than 50 underprivileged children from Dorchester and Berkeley counties. These children received a unique opportunity to interact with Charleston's Airmen by touring the fire department, climbing inside a C-17 and participating in a military working dog demonstration.
Each of the local organizations impacted continues to express their appreciation and eagerly looks forward to opportunities the 2008 campaign may offer. Without the energetic participation of Team Charleston Airmen, these events would not have been possible. So, thank you Team Charleston, for once again rising to the occasion and making the CFC a successful endeavor.
The participation and generous contributions from this base will benefit a host of non-profit organizations seeking to improve the quality of life for those in need. The impact of the base's actions will be felt here in Charleston, across the nation and around the world.
