Warrior of the Week: Senior Airman Erik Goodwine

437th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron

Senior Airman Erik Goodwine is an aircraft electro-environmental systems journeyman and is currently deployed to Southwest Asia with the 8th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron.

He has been stationed at Charleston AFB for four years and is a member of the 437th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. While deployed or at home station, he is responsible for maintaining electrical and environmental systems on C-17s. By maintaining the aircraft to keep them on flying status, he contributes to the mission of Team Charleston and the entire Air Force.

"I like my job because I like working with my hands," said Airman Goodwine. "It lets me see more of what the hard work of my hands results in."

This "warrior of the week" hails from Pine Bush, N.Y., and enlisted in the Air Force five years ago.

"I joined the Air Force because my mom wouldn't let me be the man on the couch ... and I wanted to learn skills I could use later in life," said Airman Goodwine.

Though he considers his past 5 years in the Air force "glorious," he plans to separate in a year so he can go back to working on housing renovations.

"Airman Goodwine has gone above and beyond every Airman here," said Tech. Sgt. Jacob Gibson, 8 EAMS electro-environmental systems craftsman. "He has stepped forward for tasks before anyone else. He is one of our hardest workers and gets tasks done quickly and correctly. He really is a great Airman."
