4 Airmen receive punishment under UCMJ

Members of Charleston AFB received the following nonjudicial punishments under Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice during May. The maximum punishment under Article 15 depends on the rank of the member being offered the Article 15 and the rank of the officer imposing punishment. If the commander finds a military member committed the charged offense, the commander then determines the member's punishment based on the severity of the offense, the circumstances surrounding the offense, previous misconduct and any matters in mitigation or extenuation presented by the member.

A 15th Airlift Squadron senior airman received an Article 15 for larceny of military property greater than $500. The punishment consisted of reduction to the grade of airman 1st class (reduction to airman suspended), forfeiture of $400 pay per month for two months ($200 pay per month for two months suspended) and a reprimand.

A 437th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron technical sergeant received an Article 15 for driving while under the influence of alcohol. The punishment consisted of forfeiture of $1,500 pay and a reprimand.

A 437th Civil Engineer Squadron senior airman received an Article 15 for wrongful use of marijuana. The punishment consisted of reduction to airman 1st class and a reprimand. The Airman is currently undergoing administrative discharge.

A 437th Logistics Readiness Squadron technical sergeant received an Article 15 for committing adultery. The punishment consisted of forfeiture of $1552 pay per month for two months, 15 days extra duty and a reprimand.
