New consolidated mobility bus stop route to gain time

By 1st Lt. Andrew Havko 437th Logistics Readiness Squadron

During the May flyaway mobility exercise, many lessons were learned and adjustments have been made across the wing. One area identified for improvement was the mobility shuttle bus.

Currently, there are 16 different stops and, during the May operational readiness inspection, it took too much time for some Airmen to reach the processing line. Delays were experienced from the multiple stops, on- and off-loading of bags and Airmen and from the distance of the route itself. By reducing the shuttle bus time here at home station, Team Charleston can gain valuable work time at the deployed site.

To do this, the plan is to consolidate the current bus stops down to five central locations. In addition, the buses will be preceded by baggage trucks to help cut load times. The goal is to decrease the shuttle time down to 35 minutes or less -- a significant reduction of time needed by our deployed team.

The new stops are listed in the base newspaper and shown on the map. This change is being incorporated into the new installation deployment plan for mass passenger movements and will be exercised in June and July prior to the ORI.

This change was approved by members of the "Super Chalk" team and ORI staff. For more information, contact Lieutenant Havko at 963-4056.
