Warrior of the Week: Airman 1st Class Stephen Adams

14th Airlift Squadron

Airman 1st Class Stephen Adams is a member of the 14th Airlift Squadron and has been stationed at Charleston AFB for eight months.

He is currently on a deployment to Southwest Asia where he serves as a C-17 loadmaster with the 816th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron. As a C-17 loadmaster, his duties include preparing the jet, supervising the uploads and downloads of the jet, and calculating aircraft weight and balance. Airman Adams said he contributes to Team Charleston's mobility mission by taking the fight to the enemy every time he flies.

"I like the feeling I get knowing troops on the ground get what they need," said Airman Adams. "I enjoy the travel and crew camaraderie and also the heritage that goes along with being an aircrew member. Flying aero-medical evacuations gives me insight as to what actually happens to troops on the ground. I feel honored to be able to assist them."

This "warrior of the week" hails from Hawaii and enlisted in the Air Force more than a year ago for the opportunity to serve his country and travel to places people only see on the news. He said his future career goals are to finish college and advance in his career.

During off-duty time, he volunteers his services to Habitat for Humanity when not deployed.

"He has transported 4.5 million pounds of cargo and more than 3,900 passengers through the first 100 days of our deployment," said Master Sgt. Ronald Sharman, 14 AS loadmaster section supervisor. "Airman Adams has a can-do attitude which makes him a tremendous asset to the squadron and our continued support of the Global War on Terrorism."
