Warrior of the Week: Staff Sgt. Steven Hall

437th Medical Group

Staff Sgt. Steven Hall is a member of the 437th Medical Group and has been stationed at Charleston AFB for more than a year.

He recently returned from a deployment to Southwest Asia where he served as a force protection escort for the 379th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron. As a force protection escort, his duties included providing security for more than 8,000 coalition forces and warfighting resources. He also helped strengthen wing antiterrorism measures by directly mitigating enemy collection efforts.

Sergeant Hall said he contributes to Team Charleston's mobility mission by being a creative problem-solver accomplishing the most good for the most people using the best means possible.

At home station, he is the NCO in charge of radiation programs where he supervises bioenvironmental engineering activities.

"I like the fact that we help others, identify and prevent occupational hazards," said Sergeant Hall. "But the best part of my current job is my co-workers who strive to make everyone around them better. Though times get tough, but we truly work as a team to get the job done."

This "warrior of the week" hails from Hartford, Conn., and enlisted in the Air Force more than 10 years ago to serve his country and to seek a career with job security that would give him direction. His future career goals are to finish college and receive a commission in the Air Force. He also hopes to travel to Japan sometime during his career.

During off-duty time, he volunteers his services to Airmen Against Drunk Driving and the First 6 when not deployed.

"Sergeant Hall is a key asset and exemplifies the warrior spirit", said Maj. Eric Barney, 437 MDG Bioenvironmental Engineering Flight commander. "From day-to-day taskings to major events like the recent Air Mobility Command Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosive Challenge, we can count on him to take care of business in a cool and professional manner. It's great to have him back in the shop."
