LRS reorganizes to align similar flights

By 437th Logistics Readiness Squadron

The 437th Logistics Readiness Squadron recently reorganized under a new process-aligned structure as part of an Air Force initiative.

This evolution is based on the Logistics Readiness Transformation goals to align logistics readiness functions across the Air Force, distribute workload and be standardized, yet flexible.

The squadron reduced the number of flights from six to four. Under the new four-flight structure, the 437 LRS will consist of the Deployment and Distribution, Materiel Management, Vehicle Management, and Fuels Management Flights while realigning Vehicle Operations, and Management and Systems Flights. The rationale is to combine like logistics functions and eliminate redundancy and waste.

The Deployment and Distribution Flight is responsible for the centralized command and control, planning and execution of all wing deployments as well as operations and the transportation of cargo and Airmen.

The Materiel Management Flight provides aircraft parts, mission capable support, mobility bag and weapons support, reparable asset due-in from maintenance management, equipment accountability and customer service.

The Vehicle Management Flight is the single authority and source for maintenance and management of the installation's motor vehicle fleet.

The Fuels Management Flight's mission is to acquire or procure and safely and efficiently issue quality petroleum products and cryogenics fluids to using organizations.

Furthermore, the new organization increases the responsibilities of the commander's staff. In addition to providing guidance for the installation's logistics processes, the commander's staff is now responsible for readiness of the squadron and providing oversight of squadron compliance, training, resources, accountability and analysis.

"The newly reorganized logistics readiness squadron should be transparent to its customers," said Lt. Col. James Petrick, 437 LRS commander. "We will continue to provide our first-rate support to wing customers."
