CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
Airmen and junior NCOs are once again being thanked by the Team Charleston Top 3 association during this year's Oktoberfest at the dormitory complex Oct. 17 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Top 3 will provide food, drinks and entertainment for junior-enlisted members during the annual event.
"This is just a small token of appreciation for the hard work and dedication our junior-enlisted Airmen have for the mission here," said Senior Master Sgt. Damian Fox, Top 3 president and member of the 437th Operations Group. "As senior NCOs, we ask a lot of our junior enlisted members day in and day out to perform the very difficult mission of the wing. We know that, without each and every one of them, our mission accomplishment would not occur."
Sergeant Fox said that the Top 3 has been sponsoring the annual event for more than 3 years and has grown in popularity and support from Top 3 members each year.
"Oktoberfest is one of the events the Top 3 is most proud of sponsoring annually," he said. "There are many SNCOs who work many hours ensuring that every last detail is not overlooked because we know the event is for our most valuable asset -- our Airmen."
The menu for the event includes hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwursts, baked beans and chips.
During the event, Top 3 members along with the Chief's and First Sergeant's Council will take on junior enlisted members in volleyball, basketball, horseshoes and a 20-person tug-of-war match. People interested in participating in sporting events can contact Tech. Sgt. Byron Kendziora at 963-2361.
For Airman 1st Class Jacqueline Misko, 437th Communications Squadron client service administrator, it will be here first Oktoberfest here since arriving from Kunsan AB, South Korea, and said she looks forward to the event.
"Knowing that SNCOs across the base will take time out of there valuable schedule to coordinate and pull off an event like this makes me feel good about my job," she said. "I hope as many other junior enlisted members as possible take the time to come out to the event since it is to show us our SNCOs truly care and value what we do every day."
