Warrior of the Week: Airman 1st Class Chris Cozart

437th Aerial Port Squadron

Airman 1st Class Chris Cozart is a member of the 437th Aerial Port Squadron and has been stationed at Charleston AFB for more than a year.

He recently returned from a deployment to Jordan, where he was a part of the military assistance program with the U.S. Embassy.

At home station, Airman Cozart is a passenger service agent but, while he was deployed, he was a part of a three-man team that ran all aerial port operations at five air fields. His main focus was to ensure all U.S. military aircraft operations ran according to the mission requirements as efficiently and safe as possible.

His responsibilities included taking care of aircrews and assisting them with vital information or giving any assistance they needed to successfully complete a mission, he said. "I assisted in the movement of all cargo missions commanded and controlled numerous Iraqi support missions. I also assisted with moving Jordanian coalition forces in and out of the area of responsibility.

This "warrior of the week" hails from Dallas and enlisted in the Air Force almost two years ago because "I wanted to be a part of something big that makes a direct impact on our country ... and I get to do it every day in the military."

His future career goals include continuing going to college to earn a bachelor's degree.

"Airman Cozart displays maturity far above his peers," said Master Sgt. Marrian James, 437 APS passenger services superintendent. "His decisive leadership ability, unique will and determination encourages the flight's team building. His below-the-zone promotion selection was well deserved."
