CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
Senior Airman Jordan Gunn is a member of the 437th Contracting Squadron and has been stationed at Charleston AFB for more than three years.
He is currently deployed to Southwest Asia as a member of the 379th Expeditionary Contracting Squadron as a contracting officer. Airman Gunn's responsibilities include negotiating, awarding, managing, performing and administrating commodities and service contracts including modifications of up to $1 million per order in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom.
When he is at home station, he is responsible for negotiating, awarding, management, performance and administration of contracting functions for commodities, services and construction contracts using various acquisitions, negotiation and source selection procedures.
While deployed, Airman Gunn sees how what he does on a daily basis has an immediate impact on the mission.
"While I am deployed, I'm directly involved with the mission with more than 100 contracting actions valued at more than $2 million," he said.
This "warrior of the week" hails from Anchorage, Alaska, and enlisted in the Air Force more than three years ago so he could get out and see the world.
"I've seen quite a bit of [the world] since I've been in ... places that I probably would have never seen as a civilian," he said.
Airman Gunn's future goal is to work in the contracting squadron as a civilian when he separates from the Air Force.
"Airman Gunn is an excellent Airman on his way to making a great NCO," said Staff Sgt. Kenya Hall, 437 CONS contracting specialist. "He is professional and works hard at reaching his goals and accomplishing the mission. I consider it an honor to work with him and the people deployed with him are very lucky."
