7 Airmen receive Articles 15

Several members of Charleston AFB received the following non-judicial punishments under Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice recently.

The maximum punishment under Article 15 depends on the rank of the member being offered the Article 15 and the rank of the officer imposing punishment. If the commander finds a military member committed the charged offense, the commander can then determine the member's punishment based on the severity of the offense, the circumstances surrounding the offense, previous misconduct and any matters in mitigation or extenuation presented by the member.

A 14th Airlift Squadron major received an Article 15 for dereliction of duty, making a false official statement and conduct unbecoming of an officer. The punishment consisted of forfeiture of $3,235 pay per month for two months with forfeitures in excess of $1,620 pay per month for two months (suspended) and a reprimand.

A 16th Airlift Squadron airman first class received an Article 15 for cocaine use. The punishment consisted of reduction to airman basic, forfeiture of $673 pay per month for two months (suspended) and a reprimand.

A 437th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron airman first class received an Article 15 for being away without leave for less than three days. The punishment consisted of reduction to airman (suspended), forfeiture of $300 pay, 15 days extra duty and a reprimand.

A 437th Maintenance Squadron airman first class received an Article 15 for wrongful use of an over-the-counter medication. The punishment consisted of reduction to airman (suspended), forfeiture of $754 pay, 30 days extra duty and a reprimand.

A 437 MXS airman received an Article 15 for incapacitation for performance of duties due to prior overindulgence of alcohol and making a false official statement. The punishment consisted of reduction to airman basic, forfeiture of $673 pay (suspended), 30 days extra duty and a reprimand.

A 437th Operations Support Squadron airman first class received an Article 15 for wrongful use and possession of marijuana. The punishment consisted of reduction to airman basic with reduction below airman suspended, 30 days extra duty and a reprimand.

A 437 OSS airman first class received an Article 15 for underage drinking and possessing a false identification card. The punishment consisted of reduction to airman, 30 days extra duty and a reprimand.
