Warrior of the Week: Senior Master Sgt. Randal Williams

437th Force Support Squadron

Senior Master Sgt. Randal Williams is a member of the 437th Force Support Squadron and has been stationed at Charleston AFB for more than three years.

He recently returned from a 365-day deployment to a base in Southwest Asia where he served as the superintendent and senior enlisted advisor for the U.S. Coalition Air Force Training Team. Also while deployed, he supervised, scheduled and worked in the Tactical Operations Control Center which enhanced force protection for more than 32,000 Iraqi and coalition members.

While deployed, he was a part of the Air Force's first and largest coalition Air Force training team. He worked daily with high-ranking Iraqis and upon his arrival, he was appointed as the additional duty first sergeant for 71 deployed Airmen since he was a previous "diamond wearing" first sergeant, he said.

"Working under austere conditions outside of coalition defenses, and under frequent indirect fire, I had the opportunity to excel in several positions while maintaining a mission-first focus," Sergeant Williams said.
This "warrior of the week" hails from Tampa, Fla., and enlisted in the Air Force 27 years ago to "serve this great county and work with the most professional men and women in the world."

His future career goals are to "culminate a distinguished career filled with many accomplishments and continue serving the Department of Defense in a capacity outside of the military as I join my wife and kids in California," he said.

"Sergeant Williams is an incredible senior NCO whose love for the Air Force and its people is evident through his impeccable attention to detail with personnel programs, but more so by his passion to serve the Airmen both deployed and those at home station," said Capt. Evangeline Wilson, 437 FSS Military Personnel Flight chief. "He is a mentor and leader, but most importantly he comes to work each and every day to serve others and our country without ever expecting anything in return. His selfless attitude is why I think he deserves to be recognized."
