Charleston AFB construction update

Fitness and Sports Center: 5,800-square-foot addition with accompanying 8,065-square-foot of interior renovations, to include upgrade of the female locker room.

Golf Course Fairways and Bunker Repairs: Project repaired all the sand traps and bunkers and replaced turf on nine fairways. Project recently completed and the course is in great shape.

Repair Runway 03/21: Complete repair by replacement of secondary runway. Anticipate construction award in December 2008 with construction to start first quarter of 2009.

Repair Joint Base Headquarters: Recently awarded project renovations for Building 1600 to accommodate the upcoming Joint Base Charleston Command structure. Anticipate construction to start in December 2008.

Additions and Alterations to Base Chapel: Project awarded September 2008 and construction will include a new 2,000-square-foot fellowship hall addition off the back of the existing fellowship hall. They will also expand the kitchen, provide a choir room and a Sunday school room. The project will start December 2008 but will not impact holiday services.

Construct 400-Meter Track: Project was awarded September 2008 to construct a 400-meter track for the base fitness program. Estimate construction to start first quarter of 2009. Track will be located south of the fitness center on Moreland Circle.
