4 Airmen receive Articles 15

Members of Charleston AFB received the following non-judicial punishments under Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice during October 2008. The maximum punishment under Article 15 depends on the rank of the member being offered the Article 15 and the rank of the officer imposing punishment.

If the commander finds that a military member committed the charged offense, the commander then determines the member's punishment based on the severity of the offense, the circumstances surrounding the offense, previous misconduct, and any matters in mitigation or extenuation presented by the member.

A 437th Aerial Port Squadron 437th senior airman received an Article 15 for misuse of a government travel card. The punishment consisted of reduction to airman 1st class (suspended), 30 days extra duty and a reprimand.

A 437 APS airman 1st class received an Article 15 for misuse of a government travel card. The punishment consisted of reduction to airman (suspended), 30 days extra duty and a reprimand.

A 437th Civil Engineer Squadron staff sergeant received an Article 15 for driving under the influence of alcohol. The punishment consisted of reduction to senior airman (suspended), forfeiture of $400 pay per month for two months and a reprimand.

A 437th Force Support Squadron airman 1st class received an Article 15 for carrying a concealed weapon. The punishment consisted of reduction to airman basic with reduction below airman suspended, forfeiture of $500 pay (suspended), 30 days extra duty and a reprimand.
