CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
Members of Charleston AFB received the following non-judicial punishment under Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice during February. The maximum punishment under Article 15 depends on the rank of the member being offered the Article 15 and the rank of the officer imposing punishment. If the commander finds that a military member committed the charged offense, the commander then determines the member's punishment based on the severity of the offense, the circumstances surrounding the offense, previous misconduct, and any matters in mitigation or extenuation presented by the member.
· A 14th Airlift Squadron airman first class received an Article 15 for drinking underage and wrongfully consuming unknown pills. The punishment consisted of reduction in rank to Airman and a reprimand.
· A 14 AS staff sergeant received an Article 15 for misuse government travel card misuse. The punishment consisted of reduction in rank to senior airman and a reprimand.
· A 437th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron staff sergeant received an Article 15 for failure to go to an appointed place of duty, away without leave for three days or less, disobeying an NCO and solicitation. The punishment consisted of reduction in rank to senior airman, forfeiture of $250 pay per month for 2 months (suspended), 30 days extra duty and a reprimand.
· A 437th Logistics Readiness Squadron airman first class received an Article 15 for three specifications of assault consummated by a battery. The punishment consisted of reduction in rank to Airman (suspended), forfeiture of $784 pay, 30 days extra duty and a reprimand.
· A 437th Operations Support Squadron senior airman received an Article 15 for signing a false official statement. The punishment consisted of reduction in rank to airman first class, forfeiture of $929 pay (suspended) and a reprimand.
