CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
Senior Airman Matthew Carr is a member of the 437th Security Forces Squadron and has been stationed at Charleston AFB for about a year.
He was recently deployed to the Middle East as a security forces patrolman with the 732nd Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron, Detachment 4. Airman Carr's responsibilities included providing law and order along with being a first responder through both dismounted and mounted patrols.
While home at Charleston, Airman Carr is a security forces desk sergeant, where he is responsible for coordinating command, control and communications operations for his flight.
According to Airman Carr, what he likes best about his job is having the opportunity to travel a lot and defend freedom.
"I can't count all the crazy times I have had on the job," said Airman Carr. "It's an adrenaline junkie's dream."
This "warrior of the week" hails from Hume, Va., and enlisted in the Air Force about six-and-a-half years ago to have the opportunity to travel around the world.
Airman Carr's future goal is to look for a yearlong deployment, but other than that he is playing it by ear.
"Airman Carr is one of those Airmen you can count on to handle the most sensitive tasks. His duty position requires a person who can multi-task, assign the appropriate level of priority and exercise sound command and control," said Senior Master Sgt. Clinton Harris, security forces operations superintendent. "Airman Carr's ability to accomplish these tasks and duty responsibilities is second to none."
