CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
Name: Senior Airman Averion Williamson
Unit and job title: 437th Mission Support Group knowledge operations management journeyman
Time in the Air Force: three years
Time in the honor guard: five months
What inspired you to join honor guard? The positive image it presents and the inner adrenaline rush to show respect and honor to my fallen comrades.
What is your favorite aspect of the honor guard? I would have to say the firing party.
What are your future career goals? I plan on cross-training soon to become a loadmaster and finish up school to obtain my Community College of the Air Force and bachelor's degree in Information Technology to ultimately become a commissioned officer.
Who is your role model and why? I would say Staff Sgt. Antonio Good. He demonstrates what he preaches in all aspects of being a leader. His knowledge, guidance, work ethic and encouragement to strive for more and pass on the torch are motivation enough. Delegating work is a good thing, provided the one delegating works too. The best leader is the one people barely know exists; when our work is done, his aim fulfilled, and it lets me say, "I did it myself." The very essence of his leadership has made me have that same vision and I respect that.
