Warrior of the Week: Senior Airman Jamaal Avington

437th Force Support Squadron

Senior Airman Jamaal Avington is a member of the 437th Force Support Squadron and has been stationed at Charleston AFB for about two years.

He has recently been deployed to the Middle East as a computer security custodian, client support administrator, assistant supply NCO in charge and decoration monitor with the 332nd Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron. Airman Avington's responsibilities included providing administrative support for the explosive ordnance disposal flight and supported forward operating bases.

While at Charleston AFB, Airman Avington is a force management journeyman where he is responsible for updating members' personal information on a daily basis so they may continue to progress in their military careers.

According to Airman Avington, what he likes best about his job is being able to help his fellow Airmen with their career paths.

This "warrior of the week" hails from Houston and enlisted in the Air Force about four years ago to have the opportunity to travel the world, as well as meet all types of people.

Airman Avington's future goal is to progress with his Air Force career and eventually become a teacher for an inner-city school.

"Airman Avington is a phenomenal Airman that consistently performs duties above his peers," said Staff Sgt. Shatoria David, 437 FSS force management section supervisor. "He's a self-starter and is always the first to volunteer for the toughest jobs. The knowledge and confidence he displayed during his recent deployment was key to the overall success of the wing's global mobility mission. He's definitely one to watch."
