CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
Members of Team Charleston gathered together July 8 for a memorial service in honor of a fallen Airman at the base chapel.
Charleston AFB lost Master Sgt. Jermode Pharr, a member of the 437th Force Support Squadron, in a tragic car accident July 4 at the age of 37. He was the laid to rest during a funeral service held July 9.
The memorial service allowed members of the 437 AW to come together and share experiences and fond memories amongst themselves, as well as with Sergeant Pharr's family and friends who were in attendance.
Sergeant Pharr entered the Air Force in March of 1992. During his time in the military, his assignments have included bases in South Carolina and Korea. He also deployed in support of Operations Provide Comfort, Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
"Sergeant Pharr truly cared about the well-being of Airmen, especially those who worked directly for him," said Angela Valentine, 437 FSS sustainment services superintendent. "He was one of those Senior NCOs who was willing to do anything he asked his Airmen to do. He always encouraged his Airmen to strive to be the best they could be and to make the best out of every situation. He looked forward to coming to work every day and being the supervisor his Airmen could be proud of. If you were to ask any one of the Airmen that worked for him, what they will miss most about Sergeant Pharr; they would say his smile, his laugh and the way he looked out for them. Sergeant Pharr's contributions to Team Charleston were endless. The Air Force has definitely lost one of the good ones."
