CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
Name: Senior Airman Spencer Keeley
Unit and job title: 14th Airlift Squadron loadmaster
Time in the Air Force: two years, six months
Time in the honor guard: 10 months
What inspired you to join the honor guard? Being raised as a military child, I have always had a lot respect for what our country stands for and for those who serve to protect it. Other than enlisting, I wanted to do more to show others what it is that we do and gain their respect as well. Joining the honor guard has been the perfect opportunity to do just that.
What is your favorite aspect of the honor guard? My favorite aspect of honor guard is being given the privilege to represent the United States Air Force during times when our service members and their families really need our support and recognition. I have also met some really great people and made awesome friends through the honor guard.
What are your future career goals? I still have a few more years until my enlistment is up to decide if I want to stay in the Air Force or not. I really enjoy working as a loadmaster with the 14 AS and can't imagine doing anything else with my life right now. I am currently trying to finish my college degree on the side and hoping to become a teacher once I've completed it.
Who is your role model and why? I don't have just one role model. I have been inspired by many individuals, such as family, friends, teachers, coworkers and even strangers, throughout my life. Those people have done great things in their lives, not only for themselves, but through their actions they have helped others, me being one of them. Every day, I use what I've learned from those individuals to reach my goals. I hope through my ideas and actions I can inspire others as well.
