CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
The Pink Heals Tour is scheduled to debut at Charleston AFB in a celebration of life and hope for healing Oct. 9.
The mission of the Pink Heals Tour is to promote women's cancer prevention awareness with the help of an elite group of volunteers and members of a surprising profession.
Dressed from head to toe in pink, an entourage of volunteer firefighters travels across the country during the Pink Heals Tour.
Driving their pink fire trucks, the firemen are escorted by motorcyclists leading a trailer that carries the "Ribbon of Hope."
The event will be sponsored by the 437th Medical Group and is scheduled to be held at the rear portions of the Base Exchange and Commissary parking areas, starting at 11 a.m. with a Health and Wellness Fair.
Several local hospitals and agencies will be present to provide information on women's cancer prevention.
Beginning at 2:30 p.m., Tour members will lead a Family Walk/Run beginning at the Fitness and Sports Center and ending at the Commissary parking lot.
There, the audience will be addressed by the founder of the Pink Heals Tour and Cancer Survivors. Supporters will be given the opportunity to sign the pink fire trucks.
The 437 MDG invites Team Charleston to attend in support of all women in their fight against cancer, and encourages anyone interested to wear pink.
