CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
Charleston Airmen received the following non-judicial punishments under Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice during September and October.
The maximum punishment under Article 15 depends on the rank of the Airman being offered the Article 15 and the rank of the officer imposing punishment. If the commander finds that an Airman committed the charged offense, the commander then determines the Airman's punishment based on the severity of the offense, the circumstances surrounding the offense, previous misconduct, and any matters in mitigation or extenuation presented by the Airman.
A 437th Aerial Port Squadron senior airman received an Article 15 for drunk and disorderly conduct which brought discredit upon the armed forces. The punishment consisted of reduction in rank to airman first class, suspended forfeiture of $200 pay per month for two months, 45 days of extra duty and a reprimand.
A 437th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron senior airman received an Article 15 for being absent from an assigned place of duty without authority. The punishment consisted of a reduction in rank to airman first class and forfeiture of $929 pay per month for two months.
A 14th Airlift Squadron airman first class received an Article 15 for being drunk and disorderly bringing discredit upon the armed forces, in addition to willfully and wrongfully damaging personal property. The punishment consisted of reduction in rank to airman, suspended forfeiture of $784 pay per month for two months and a reprimand.
A 437th Civil Engineer Squadron senior airman received an Article 15 for being derelict in the performance of duties by using a government travel card for non-official purposes and making a false official statement, in addition to using disrespectful language toward law enforcement officers in the execution of their duties. The punishment consisted of a suspended reduction in rank to airman basic, suspended forfeiture of $500 pay per month for two months and a reprimand.
A 437th Civil Engineer Squadron airman first class received an Article 15 for unlawfully striking a civilian, disobeying a lawful no-contact order imposed by a non-commissioned officer. The punishment consisted of a suspended reduction in rank to airman basic, forfeiture of $699 pay per month for two months, restriction to the limits of Charleston AFB for 60 days and a reprimand.
A 437th Maintenance Squadron airman first class received an Article 15 for being derelict in the performance of duties in willfully failing to refrain from escorting visitors on base without proper registration, willfully refraining from providing alcohol to persons under the legal age of 21 and unlawfully hitting a fellow Airman on the body and face. The punishment consisted of a suspended reduction in rank to airman, forfeiture of $784 pay, 30 days of extra duty and a reprimand.
A 437th Operations Support Squadron master sergeant received an Article 15 for being derelict in the performance of duties by promoting a hostile work environment. The punishment consisted of reduction in rank to technical sergeant, 45 days of extra duty and a reprimand.
A 437th Security Forces Squadron senior airman received an Article 15 for being drunk and disorderly which brought discredit upon the armed forces, in addition to striking a fellow Airman on the head. The punishment consisted of a suspended reduction in rank to airman first class, forfeiture of $929 pay per month for two months, 21 days of extra duty and a reprimand.
A 14th Weather Squadron staff sergeant received an Article 15 for unlawfully striking a civilian in the face. The punishment consisted of a suspended reduction in rank to senior airman, 45 days of extra duty and a reprimand.
