JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. –
The Team Charleston Spouses' Club recently announced their official status as a non-profit organization here.
The club is comprised of the previous Officers' Spouses' Club and Enlisted Spouses' Club. Membership is open to spouses of active-duty and retired service members, spouses of deceased or missing service members and any active-duty, retired or civil service member associated with Joint Base Charleston.
The mission of the club is "to bring spouses together for social, charitable and educational purposes." TCSC will sponsor many activities, including monthly socials on base and within the Charleston community.
Some of the future activities planned include monthly bunko, bowling, tours of the plantation in the area, cooking and gardening demos and a membership drive in late summer. Along with these activities to foster fellowship and friendship among the spouses of Joint Base Charleston, TCSC will support and be involved with charitable endeavors within the base and the community.
To begin their charitable endeavors, the Team Charleston Spouses' Club will be sponsoring a Scholarship Silent Auction "Roundup" Saturday, March 13, at the Charleston Club as their official kick-off event.
This auction is the primary means of support to provide scholarships for military dependents seeking higher education. There is a "Western Theme," and attendees are encouraged come dressed in their best Western apparel and to be prepared for a good time.
Doors open at 6 p.m. for the event. Dinner is scheduled to be served at 6:30 p.m. with the silent auction occurring throughout the night.
Auction items to bid on include rounds of golf, autographed sports memorabilia, artwork, wine baskets, pampering basket, grilling basket, gift certificates and many others.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by sending a request to Shannon Heiling at shannonheiling@gmail.com or 568-0643.
