Base pavements maintainers a cut above the rest
U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Jerry Cook uses a jack hammer to break up defective pavement on the runway so it can be removed and replaced with asphalt at Joint Base Charleston, S.C., March, 25, 2010. Base civil engineers have monthly runway closures to repair discrepancies as well as on an as-need basis. Airman Cook is a pavements and equipment journeyman with the 628th Civil Engineer Squadron.
