Hurricane season will continue through November, with the highest probability of a major hurricane occurring between mid-August and October. Due to a hurricane's capacity for damage, preparation is the key. Weekly hurricane tips provide need-to-know information for staying ahead of the weather.

Plan your evacuation route and where you will go if told to evacuate. Be sure to have a bag of emergency supplies ready in case you have to evacuate, including extra glasses, prescription drugs and any other necessary items. Before evacuating, make sure to protect your windows from high winds, cover them with plywood and bring all outdoor furniture or decorations inside.
