Hurricane Tip of the Week

Hurricane season will continue through the end of November, with the highest probability of a major hurricane occurring between mid-August and October.

Although the historical likeliness of a hurricane occurring late in the season is low, service members are urged to stay vigilant. Due to a hurricane's capacity for damage, preparation is the key.

Weekly hurricane tips provide need-to-know information for staying ahead of the weather.

As the base approaches the dormant season for hurricanes, take the time to plan your evacuation route and where you will go if told to evacuate. Be sure to have a bag of emergency supplies ready in case you have to evacuate, including extra glasses, prescription drugs and any other necessary items such as baby food and diapers, toiletries, a battery-powered radio, flashlight, extra batteries, blankets or sleeping bags, identification, valuable papers and a credit card or cash.
