JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. –
Maj. Ryan White assumed command of the 437th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron from Lt. Col. Jonathan Downing during a routine change of command ceremony at Joint Base Charleston - Air Base June 21. Major White was previously assigned to the Air Command and Staff College, Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. Major White was also previously assigned to the 437th Maintenance Group at Charleston AFB from 2005 to 2006.
Colonel Downing will be assigned to the 321st Air Expeditionary Wing in Baghdad, Iraq as an advisor to the Iraqi Air Force.
Major White grew up in Enterprise, Ala., and earned his commission through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps from Troy State University. Additionally he earned a Master of Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle University.
Major White was the 27th Special Operations Maintenance Operations Squadron commander from 2009 to 2010. During this assignment, he was responsible for group plans and programs, quality assurance, contract oversight, training, plans and scheduling and analysis. He has also served in Air Combat Command, Air Mobility Command, Air Force Special Operations Command and the U.S. Air Force Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Battlelab.
