Air Base - News Briefs

All classes or events will be held at the Airman and Family Readiness Center unless otherwise specified. For more information, call 963-4406.

Air Force Ball
Air Force Ball: Submit a design for the 2012 Air Force Ball program cover! This year's theme is 'Wings over Charleston'. All DoD ID Card holders and family members can submit a design. Please make design sizes half sheet/booklet (5.5 x 8.5). Design entries are due by July 9. The prize will be a $50 gift card or two Air Force Ball tickets. Contact Senior Master Sgt. Michelle McMeekin with designs or any questions at 963-5476.

July 10
An Educational Opportunities Counseling will be held July 10 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Half-hour appointments will be available to meet one-on-one with an expert who will help individuals reach their educational goals.

July 11
A My New Space workshop will be held on July 11 from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. This mandatory workshop is a prerequisite for individuals moving out of the drom that addresses tips for financial success.

A Spouse Employment/Scholarship Orientation will be held on July 11 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Learn about free available resources and services such as employment, resumes, the local job market, scholarships and other job search issues.

A Workforce Specialist class will be held on July 11 from 10 a.m. to noon. Half-hour appointments are available to meet with a workforce specialist who will provide job referrals, resume and interview assistance. This is available to active duty, retirees and their dependents and DOD civilians.

A Blending Two Families class will be held on July 11 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Learn to understand blended family issues, common complaints from adults and kids, stages of adjustment, characteristics of a successfully blended family, household rules and discipline, establishing new traditions and things to do and not to do.

July 12
A Newcomer's Tour will be held on July 12 from 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This is a free guided tour of Charleston's Historic district including the Citadel Military College, Ft. Moultrie and Isle of Palms. Lunch will be on your own. The tour bus departs from and returns to the Airman and Family Readiness Center.

A Ready, Set, Parent class will be held on July 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. this course provides useful tips for parents while helping them understand the importance of budgeting for their new addition.

July 13
The Joint Base Charleston Top 3 is holding the senior noncommissioned officer induction ceremony, July 13 at the Charleston Club. See your first sergeant for details.

July 16
628th Contracting Squadron Change of Command: Lt. Col. Tyr Brenner will relinquish command to Lt. Col. Dale Skinner, July 16 at 10 a.m. at the Charleston Club. Reception to follow. Call 963-5155 to RSVP.
