16th AS returns home from deployment
Senior Airman Michael Denk, 16th Airlift Squadron loadmaster, was the first returning member of the 16th AS to exit the commercial plane which flew them home during the 437th Airlift Wing’s 16th AS redeployment July 2, 2013, at Joint Base Charleston - Air Base, S.C. More than 120 Airmen from the 16th AS returned home from a 60-day deployment to Southwest Asia. Flying the C-17 Globemaster III, crews flew and supported roughly 1,000 sorties, logged more than 2,500 combat flying hours and airlifted more than 36 million pounds of cargo.
