Eligible members:
Legal service is available to active duty, retirees and their families; members of the Guard (Title 10 status only); and Reserve members on active duty orders.
Wills:
Will preparation is conducted primarily via email and telephone. Clients should call the Air Base Legal Office to request instructions on filling out a will worksheet. Will processing take approximately 4 to 6 weeks. Will signing appointments are at the Air Base are by appointment only, Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

LEGAL ASSISTANCE
General legal advice is available during walk-in hours on the Air Base. An appointment is required for the Weapons Station. The U.S. Air Force also maintains a legal assistance website which may be of assistance at https://aflegalassistance.law.af.mil. Legal assistance attorneys cannot represent in court. Legal assistance is prohibited in the following areas:
- Issues involving personal commercial enterprises
- Criminal issues under the Uniform Code of Military Justice or state/federal criminal law (contact the Area Defense Counsel at (843)963-4416/4415 for assistance)
- Standards of Conduct Issues
- Law of Armed Conflict Issues
- Official matters in which U.S. Air Force has interest or is involved in the final outcome
- Representation of the client in a court or administrative proceeding

AREA DEFENSE COUNSEL, JOINT BASE CHARLESTON
The Office of the Area Defense Counsel (ADC) is comprised of select attorneys and paralegals whose sole focus is to advise and advocate for service members. The ADC provides confidential, independent legal representation for service members who are facing adverse administrative actions or are suspected of committing an offense under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). The Area Defense Counsel falls outside the chain of command for the wing, and therefore retains independence in the representation of service members.
