CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
Senior Airman Rachelle Sloan is a dental assistant with the 437th Medical Group, and has been stationed at Charleston Air Force Base for more than one year. She contributes to the Team Charleston by taking X-rays, assisting in surgery and cleaning teeth of Team Charleston Airmen.
As a dental hygienist, Airman Sloan assists Airmen by educating them on the importance of oral health, and better ways on how to take care of their teeth.
This "Warrior of the Week" hails from Elko Nevada and enlisted in the Air Force more than four years ago. "Have you ever been to Elko, Nevada, it's in the middle of nowhere," said Airman Sloan. "I wanted bigger and better things for my life and that is why I joined the Air Force,"
"The best part of my job is that I get to see and do things that are beneficial to people. I am constantly learning because things are constantly changing," said Airman Sloan. "The doctor I work with puts up with all my questions and he teaches me something new everyday."
"Senior Airman Sloan has a very positive attitude and does what ever it takes to get the job done," said Staff Sgt. Alexander Garcia, NCO in charge of preventative dentistry. "She educates patients very well when she cleans teeth, and gives possible dental advice there is to her patients. She is definitively a team player who is constantly looking for new challenges to better herself."
