841st Transportation Battalion supports major 1st Infantry Division movement
December 13, 2018 — The 841st Transportation Battalion from Joint Base Charleston, S.C. and the 1st Infantry Division from Ft. Riley, Kan., worked together to receive, document, organize and ship over 2,400 pieces of equipment in support of Atlantic Resolve, a demonstration of continued U.S. commitment to NATO allies and partner nations in Eastern Europe, which involves a regular rotation of equipment and forces . The 841st was the logistics hub to receive 10 trains and line haul equipment as part of Atlantic Resolve’s ongoing mission. The birthday commemorates the date in 1775 when the Continental Congress authorized enlistment of expert riflemen to serve the United Colonies for one year. At the time, the Army was comprised of 22,000 militiamen gathered outside of Boston, plus 5,000 more in New York. Today, the Army has about 467,000 active duty soldiers, with another 343,000 in the U.S. Army National Guard and 206,000 in the Army Reserves.

Partnership enables JB Charleston sealift relief efforts to Puerto Rico
October 31, 2017 — The first humanitarian relief supplies sealifted from Joint Base Charleston to Ponce, Puerto Rico departed here Oct. 31. In the hours following Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, Joint Base Charleston C-17 Globemaster IIIs responded delivering more than 1,700 tons of aid, supplies and medical teams to affected areas. The C-17’s have the ability to get to austere locations quickly, the amount of cargo it can carry is limited. The USNS Brittin (T-AKR-305) is scheduled to travel between Joint Base Charleston and Puerto Rico several times over the next few months. The first trip is bringing essentials such as food, water and vehicles to get aid to areas where mudslides have created access issues. 841st Transportation Battalion conducts MRAP On-loading Operation
June 23, 2017 — The 841st Transportation Battalion participated in a mobility exercise where they loaded more than 200 pieces of equipment onto the Liberty Maritime Corporation’s ship Liberty Passion here, June 16, 2017. The bulk of the shipment included mine-resistant ambush protected vehicle, better known as the MRAP. More than 200 pieces of equipment were loaded onto the Liberty Maritime Corporation’s ship Liberty Passion, June 15, 2017, at Joint Base Charleston, S.C. – Weapons Station. Members from the 841st Transportation Battalion staged, processed and configured the equipment in support of Marine Corps pre-positioning and staging across Europe and Asia. The 841st TB conducts surface distribution and port clearance operations in support of Geographic Combatant Commanders and deployment readiness.
