628th CPTS holds Change of Command

Col. Terrence Adams, 628th Air Base Wing commander, passes the 628th Comptroller Squadron guidon to Maj. Jahayra N. Lowe, 628th CPTS commander June 27, 2019 at Joint Base Charleston, S.C. The squadron bid farewell to Lt. Col. Bryan Collins, the outgoing commander, and welcomed Lowe as the new squadron commander. The passing of the guidon is a ceremonious representation of an incoming commander's assumption of command. The change of command ceremony acts as a formal transfer of responsibility, authority and accountability from the outgoing to incoming commander.

PTSD doesn’t have to be fought alone

An Airman walks into Joint Base Charleston’s mental health clinic on post-traumatic stress awareness day June 27, 2017. Although PTSD may be associated with combat and the military, non-combat related incidents such as assaults, natural disasters, abuse and accidents can also cause the onset of the disorder. Starting in 2010, Congress named June 27 PTSD Awareness Day. In 2014, the Senate designated the full month of June for National PTSD Awareness to promote effective treatment of the disorder throughout the year.

The Levitow Award is the highest honor awarded to an ALS graduate and is given to the Airman who displays the highest level of leadership qualities. ALS is a five-week course encompassing lessons in the principles of supervision and management, the importance of communication and military professionalism.
