Humanitarian mission: Enduring Promise
February 19, 2019 — Joint Base Charleston participated in a humanitarian aid mission planned at the request of the U.S. Secretary of State, in close coordination with USAID and with the approval of the government of Colombia. The role of the U.S. military during this peaceful mission is to transport urgently needed aid to Colombia for eventual distribution by relief organizations on the ground for Venezuelans impacted by the rapidly deteriorating crisis in their country. Joint Base Charleston C-17 deploys to deliver U.S. Navy's undersea rescue
November 21, 2017 — A C-17 Globemaster III from Joint Base Charleston joined six other U.S. Air Force C-17s and three C-5M Super Galaxies deployed to Argentina on Nov. 18 to deliver the U.S. Navy's undersea rescue capabilities to aid in the search for the A.R.A. Joint Base Charleston's efforts are helping aid the search and rescue of the A.R.A. San Juan, an Argentine navy submarine that went missing Nov. 15, 2017. As part of the support, two C-17 Globemaster IIIs and one C-5M Super Galaxy from Air Mobility Command are delivering needed equipment and expertise to assist a partner nation. The first flight from Joint Base Charleston is carrying a tow bar, a Tunner 60K Aircraft Cargo Loader and three members of the 437th Aerial Port Squadron. While on the ground, the team will be conducting runway assessments prior to other equipment arriving in country. Additional U.S. Air Force support will be provided to aid efforts.

Airmen use special experience to foster relationships during Global Health Engagement
April 11, 2017 — A team of five Airmen, two with a special experience identifier earned through the International Health Specialist (IHS) program, traveled to Tegucigalpa, Honduras to work side-by-side with their Honduran air force counterparts during a subject matter expert exchange here, April 3. Airmen with an IHS certification were able to provide diversified international skills and knowledge of military and civilian health disciplines used to facilitate the five-day engagement by enabling flight medicine knowledge to be shared across a language barrier, which helps strengthen partnerships. ...
