SSC Atlantic, FAA roll out C-17 compatible, large mobile air traffic control tower
August 6, 2018 — Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic engineers, Airmen from 437th Aerial Port Squadron and officials from the Federal Aviation conducted a test load of a large mobile air traffic control tower (LMATCT) onto a C-17 Globemaster III July 26, 2018, at the Joint Base Charleston - Air Base. The test represented a significant milestone between the FAA and SSC Atlantic in their collaborative efforts to roll out three LMATCT platforms by Fiscal Year 2019, replacing older models originally constructed in the 1990s. ... SSC Atlantic, Lowcountry inspires next generation through STEM camp
August 1, 2018 — Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SSC) Atlantic, in collaboration with Trident Technical College, hosted more than 100 girls from four Lowcountry school districts for the seventh annual Girls Day Out (GDO) at Trident and College of Charleston campuses July 26-28, 2018. SPAWAR employees receive high honors from National Society of Black Engineers
July 17, 2018 — The National Society of Black Engineers recently recognized two Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command employees for success in their careers and in their communities. SPAWAR Systems Center Pacific supervisory engineer Jimmie Williams II and SSC Atlantic systems engineer Sierra Williams won 2018 Golden Torch Awards. Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SSC) Atlantic employee Chad Sullivan tins the wire for a new battery lead to install on an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Sullivan is a member of the SSC Atlantic Unmanned Systems Research (SAUSR) Range team which is working with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to get autonomous technology in the hands of warfighters. SSC Atlantic develops, acquires and provides life cycle support for command, control, communications, computer, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems, information technology and space capabilities.
