JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. —
Joint Base Charleston, the owners of the runways shared by the base and Charleston International Airport, announced that a specific day and time for the re-opening of the runway has not yet been determined as of 3:30 p.m. Sept. 14, 2018.
It is possible the runway will be operational as of Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018 at 6 a.m. once weather conditions subside.
“We are committed to not only protecting the base from the effects of the storm, but assessing and recovering from any damage in a timely fashion,” said Col. Clint ZumBrunnen, 437th Airlift Wing commander. “Reopening the airfield will be contingent upon winds subsiding to limits for flight and in coordination with the lifting of the Governor’s mandatory evacuation order.”
