SUMMERVILLE, S.C. - Mrs. Teresa Lynch-Chrapkiewicz, Rise Academy science teacher, holds the base commander’s coin after being notified that she is Joint Base Charleston’s 2024 Hometown Hero in Summerville, South Carolina, Feb. 27, 2024. One of 200 nominations, Teresa Chrapkiewicz, is a dedicated teacher, a published author, an Air Force veteran and the first female Navajo pilot, who earned the opportunity to ride in the backseat of a Thunderbird F-16 Fighting Falcon for her outstanding work in and dedication to the Charleston community.
