JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. - U.S. Navy Machinist Mate 2nd Class Andrew Kessler, Harbor Patrol Unit, performs the burning oil maneuver during the first-class swim qualification test Oct. 19, 2018, at the Danny Jones Recreational Center, North Charleston, S.C. This portion of the test is meant to recreate conditions that may not be safe for a swimmer to remain on the surface of the water for long.
