Capt. Kevin Byrne, Joint Base Charleston deputy commander, gives a speech recognizing Domestic Violence Awareness Month Oct. 23, 2018, at the Red Bank Club at Joint Base Charleston – Weapons Station, S.C.  The event was hosted by JB Charleston’s Family Advocacy office and featured Mildred Muhammad, former wife of “the D.C. sniper,” as the keynote speaker. Muhammad shared her experiences to encourage fellow survivors and to shed light on the subject of domestic violence. Muhammad has been recognized throughout military communities for championing the Family Advocacy Program and their mission to educate, promote and end domestic violence in military communities.
