JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. - Senior Airman Matthew Koser, 315th Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal craftsman, remotely operates a REMOTEC Andros F6A robot at the Joint Base Charleston Naval Weapons Station EOD range, S.C., Nov. 2, 2017. The use of robots removes the direct risk EOD technicians are often exposed to during everyday operations. EOD technicians dealt with the threat of explosives routinely until the use of battlefield robots made it possible to handle explosives from a safe distance away.
