Sandrea Hershey, center left, 14 years old, hugs and thanks Col. Jimmy Canlas, center right, 437th Airlift Wing commander, for hosting her during an Airman for a Day event here, Oct. 2, 2017. The event was hosted by the 628th Air Base Wing and 437th AW.  Hershey was diagnosed with cancer in 2015 and spent approximately 170 days in a hospital. Despite her diagnosis Hershey kept up with her school work and finished her final treatment last month. Sandrea, her mother Lori Hershey, and her friend Justin Pippin, also 14 years old, met 628th Security Forces Squadron Phoenix Raven members, observed a military working dog demonstration, toured a C-17 Globemaster III with Airmen from the 14th Airlift Squadron and tested their piloting skills in a C-17 flight simulator.
