JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. - Sandrea Hershey, 14 years old, observes a military working dog demonstration performed by 628th Security Forces Squadron MWD handlers during an Airman for a Day event here, Oct. 2, 2017. The event was hosted by the 628th Air Base Wing and 437th Airlift Wing. Sandrea was diagnosed with cancer in 2015 and spent approximately 170 days in a hospital. Despite her diagnosis she kept up with her school work and finished her last treatment last month. Sandrea, her mother Lori Hershey and her friend Justin Pippin, met 628th SFS Phoenix Raven members, toured a C-17 Globemaster III with Airmen from the 14th Airlift Squadron and tested their piloting skills in a C-17 flight simulator.
